Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

    By. Gregory Maguire

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, instead of being about Cinderella, it is about Cinderellas stepsisters. This story tells the tale of Iris, an unlikely heroine who finds herself getting swept away from the lowly streets of Haarlem into a strange world of wealth, artifice, and ambition. Iris's path quickly becomes connected with a mysterious and unnaturally beautiful girl, named Clara, who was destined to become her sister. While Clara retreats to the cinders of the family fire place, Iris seeks out the dark secrets of her new household, and the dangerous truth of her former life.
This book is a novel of beauty and betrayal, illusion and understanding, and mystery. I would recommend this book to those who like fairy tale, historical novels, mystery, or deception.
On a scale of 1 to 10, i would rate this book a 9. It also gives us a little lesson  that deception can be unearthed in the most unexpected places. This book was one of the first books my sister told me about, and im glad she did, it was just so good.

The School for Good and Evil

                              By. Soman Ghainani

The School for Good and Evil is about 2 friends named Agatha, who only wears black, and people call her a witch, and Sophie, who is like a little princess. Every year 2 children are kidnapped from Gavadon.  They go to the School for Good and Evil. The school for good and evil, are where ordinary boys and girls train to become fairy tale heroes and villains. As the most beautiful girl in Gavadon, Sophie has always dreamed of being kidnapped into the magical world her whole life. With her pink dresses, her glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she will get top marks at the school for good and then graduate a fairy tale princess. On the other hand, Agatha, with her shapeless black hair, wicked black cat, and dislike for nearly everyone in Gavadon, is the perfect fit for the school for evil. But, when the 2 girls are swept into the endless woods, they are horrified to find their fortunes reversed.
This book is really good. I have read it like 5 times already. It has kind of a twist to it. Like you think you know what is going to happen, but it's the opposite. I would recommend this to anyone who likes fairy tales, nonfiction, or dramatic books.
If I were to rate this book, I would give it 6 🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗out of 5. I was that good. I read this book in like one day because I just couldn't put it down. I would recommend you all too read it.

Women in the Shadows

                 By. Jane Thynne

Women in the Shadows is about a women named Clara Vine's who lives in Berlin. She is              half-British and half-German. She is an actress that is about to take her first leading role in a movie produced by the Nazis' official film studio. Even as she moves through the upper echelons of the Third Reich, Clara never stops acting. At cocktail parties hosted by the famous Joseph and Magda Goebbels, she collects key information for Britain, risking her life. But soon it's another young womens's life and it's abrupt end, that draw her attention. Clara knew Anna Hansen as a dancer and artist's model in the heady days of the cabaret scene. Then she became engaged to an SS officer. Attending one of Hitler's notorious Bride Schools, she was groomed as the perfect Nazi wife. When she is found murdered on the school grounds, her death is hushed up, one casualty among many in the lead-up to war. But Clara cannot fathom why Anna's death would concealed.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes things about Germany or anything that is historical fiction. Also if you like spies, or actresses.
If I were to rate this book I would rate it 4🍫🍫🍫🍫 out of 5. I would give it a 4 because personally  I don't like nonfiction books very much. If I did I would like it more. I would really recommend you read it.

I Am Malala

   By Malala Yousafzai

When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education. On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at pout-blank range while she was riding the bus from school, and few expected her to survive. Instead, Malala's miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she was a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
I Am Malala is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls' education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.
I Am Malala will make you believe in the power of one person's voice to inspire change in the world. I am impressed with Malala. I never would have been able to do that.

The Orphan Master's Son

                     By Adam Johnson
This book is an epic novel and a thrilling literary discovery. The Orphan Master's Son follows a young man on a journey through icy waters, dark tunnels, and eerie spy chambers. Pak Jun Do is the haunted son of a lost mother- a singer "stolen" to Pyongyand- and an influential father who runs a camp for orphans. There the boy is given his first taste of power. When he is recognized for his loyalty and keen instincts, Jun Do comes to the attention of superiors in the state, rises in the ranks, and starts on a road from which there will be no return.
Considering himself a humble citizen of the greatest nation in the world, Jun Do becomes a professional kidnapper who must navigate the shifting rules, arbitrary violence, and baffling demands of his Korean overlords in order to stay alive. Driven to the limit of what any human being could endure, he takes on the dangerous role of rival to Kim Jong the Second in an attempt to save the women he loves, Sun Moon, a famous actress.
Part thriller, part story of innocence lost, part story romantic love, The Orphan Master's Son is also a portrait of a world hidden from view:  a North Korea rife with hunger, corruption, and casual cruelty, but also stolen moments of beauty, and love.
I liked this book but it was kind of confusing at some parts, so I would give it a 4 out of a 5.

This is for a reading challenge. Challenge number 5.

 Scorch Trials

           By James Dashner

Scorch Trials is the sequel to Maze Runner.   Transported to a remote fortified outpost, Thomas and his fellow teenage Gladers find themselves in trouble after uncovering a diabolical plot from the mysterious and powerful organization WCKD. With help from a new ally, the Gladers stage a daring escape into the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with dangerous obstacles and crawling with the virus-infected Cranks. The Gladers only hope may be to find the Right Hand, a group of resistance fighters who can help them battle WCKD.
I'm not sure which book is better, but this one was good too. I really like this book because it has a lot of drama. It was confusing at some parts but not for long.
I would give this book 5 out of 5 monkeys, because it was just really good. I would recommend reading it when you are bored. It passes the time.
